ABOUT
Amy Rushing
Amy Rushing has sung with nearly every jazz and blues musician in Atlanta. Her main vocal influences
include Nina Simone, Jeff Buckley, Annie Lennox, and Ernestine Anderson. These influences are
profoundly obvious when you hear her sing. In conversation, she often calls herself a mimic. She enjoys the surprise of the audience when she goes from the smokey low range of Nina Simone singing “Midnight at the Oasis” in the childish quirky voice of Maria Muldaur. If you step out of the room for a minute, you may not be sure who you are listening to. High, low, female or male vocal, she will push the limits.
Not only is she an outstanding vocal artist, she is also a lifelong veteran in the broadcast roduction industry. But music has always been her first love and has now become her primary focus, and she’s quickly becoming a major force in the Atlanta music scene.
